Alessio Nardi – Labels

Alessio Nardi - Labels
My poster for Ten Images For Ithaca competition has been shortlisted between more than 7000 entries.

“Labelling means naming.
It is human instinct to group things with what they are most similar and name them as a whole.
We live in a world filled with labels antagonising each other to win our preference.
There are labels associated with consumer products and fashion.
People voluntarily label themselves in order to have a sense of belonging to a group, but there also labels that people use to categorize others stemming from feelings of racism and xenophobia,
political and religious discrimination, etc.
What is the role of these labels in your life?
How can a label describe the world you live in?
Can a label give the infinite set of experiences, beliefs and desires that summarise each human being? ”

Sam wilkinson - plumen

“Plumen is the antithesis of low energy light bulbs as we know them.
Rather than hide the unappealing traditional compact fluorescent light behind boring utility, Plumen 001 is a bulb you’ll want on show.
The Plumen bulb uses 80% less energy and lasts 8 times longer than incandescent bulbs, giving you the opportunity to purchase an ecological product with style. It works just like any low energy bulb but it has a lot more presence.”

“Planned obsolescence is the design and manufacture of products that are deliberately intended to have a limited useful life.
The result is that you are forced into an everlasting cycle of replacing, repurchasing and repeating. Vitsœ stands against this world.”

APU is the Finnish word for help – because the occasional tables are on hand to help. Designer Hanna Ehlers is half- Finnish and likes to give her designs Finnish names. The APU occasional tables are a hybrid of table, plate and vase.
